How to Fix IPTV Buffering: 9 Checks That Actually Work

Buffering is almost always fixable. Here is the exact checklist our support team runs through with customers.

Buffering is frustrating, but in most cases it is caused by something local rather than the service itself. Work through this list in order before anything else.

1. Run a speed test on the device you stream with, not on your phone in another room. You want 15 Mbps or more for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K.

2. Use a wired ethernet connection if you can. A £10 ethernet adapter for a Firestick solves more buffering than any other single fix.

3. If Wi-Fi is your only option, connect to the 5GHz band and keep the device within clear line of sight of the router.

4. Restart your router and your streaming device. It sounds obvious; it works surprisingly often.

5. Clear the cache in your player app, and make sure the app itself is updated to the latest version.

6. Close background apps. Firesticks in particular have limited memory and slow down when several apps stay open.

7. Lower the stream quality. If a 4K feed struggles, the same channel in FHD will usually play perfectly.

8. Test a different channel. If only one channel stutters, it is a source issue and we can fix it from our side.

9. Message our 24/7 support on WhatsApp. We can move your line to a closer, faster server, which resolves most remaining cases immediately.
